Finding Your "Why" in 2025 [WRAP 158]

Hey Reader, how was your first full week of 2025? It was nice to get back in a routine with the kids, although even that was short lived with the big snow we got yesterday!

As we kick off 2025, I've been thinking a lot about the "why" behind what we do. This is something that many people overlook when setting goals or building new habits.

πŸ’‘ One Big Idea: Your Why Drives Your What

We often jump straight into setting goals or creating new habits without first understanding why we want to achieve them. The truth is, you'll stick with something much longer when your "why" aligns with your vision for life.

Think about it this way:

  • What kind of work do you want to do?
  • What type of family life do you want to create?
  • Who do you want to surround yourself with?
  • What do you want your daily life to look like?

When you have a clear vision for these aspects of your life, pushing through difficult moments becomes easier. Whether it's late at night, early in the morning, or when you're just tired - you can look at the challenge and say "I am still going to do this because it connects to my bigger vision."

πŸ‘€ Video to Watch: The OMG System for 2025

Ready to make 2025 your breakthrough year? In my latest video, I break down the OMG System (Outcomes, Milestones, Goals) – a framework I use to transform overwhelming resolutions into achievable weekly actions.

The system works in three parts:

  • Outcomes: Your big-picture vision
  • Milestones: Key checkpoints along the way
  • Goals: Weekly actionable steps

What I love about this system is how it bridges the gap between your "why" (outcomes) and your daily actions (goals). No more abandoned resolutions or lost momentum – just clear, actionable steps aligned with your bigger vision.

πŸ“š Book to Read: Vivid Vision

Speaking of systems and vision, I've been re-reading Cameron Herold's Vivid Vision and it's the perfect companion to the OMG System. While many business books focus on tactics, this one is all about getting crystal clear on your "why" through visualization.

Here's an exercise from the book that I love:

Imagine something you deeply want - maybe it's your dream business, home, or relationship. Now, instead of listing features or numbers, describe how it feels to already have it. What does success look and feel like in vivid detail?

This connects with what we discussed earlier about your "why." When you can clearly envision and feel your desired future, those daily actions become magnetic rather than forced.

As Herold writes, "I'm already successful. I feel successful every day... Everything else I do and start to acquire or achieve is simply a bonus."

Thanks for reading!
